Porn and the Paper Pastor

Every once in a while I run across a blog entry that I find to be so dead-on that I feel compelled to share it with my readers.  I found one such post today; Porn and the Paper Pastor by Dan Phillips.  He sets the stage for his main point in the first half of the post and then drives it home in the second.   

While I don't want to spoil it, let me just say that as a local church pastor the many of joys and challenges I experience come from the fact that I know and love my people with all their warts and my people know and love me with mine.

My friends, I have decided to take a break from blogging for a while.  With my move to a new congregation coming soon and the investment in time that I need to put into establishing my ministry there, I've decided to put blogging on the shelf.  I hope to return to the on-line community sometime in the fall.  Until then, you may see me pop up in a few comment lines, but nothing on a regular basis.

UM Bloggers Unite

For some time there's been talk about getting the Methoblogosphere together in one place.  Gavin and his buddies down south have been working to put this together.  Thanks to their efforts, things are starting to happen.  Mrytle Beach in January sounds mighty fine to me.

Blog-cation

I've decided to take a little vacation from blogging.  I'm going to be out of the office 4 of the next six weeks and rather than writing intermittently, I'm not going to write anything. 

I don't like checking a site that hasn't been updated for weeks or even months and I don't want to lead anyone on thinking they could find something new here when there isn't. 

I'll be back shortly after the first of August.  Until then may God's grace and peace abide in your life.

An Irony

I just ran a spell check on my last post, and the word "blogger" came up as not spelled right.  Isn't it odd that a blog provider's dictionary doesn't have the word blogger in it?

Ascending to the Mountaintop

A United Methodist blogger knows that he/she has made it to the top of the blogging mountain when John over at Locust and Honey chooses to name one of your postings The Best of the Methodist Blogosphere as part of his weekly review of UM blogs.  Lo and behold, John picked my thoughts on "Teens Value their Religion" to receive this prestigious recognition.  Color me proud!

Seriously, John's weekly review is something I never miss.  Plus he's got some of the funniest stuff anywhere in Methodist Blogosphere.  If you haven't checked him out.  It's well worth the time.
